The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the premier organization for social science research in India, conducts periodic surveys in the major disciplines of the social sciences to assess disciplinary developments as well as to identify gaps in research in these disciplines. It analyses social processes at the individual, interpersonal, group, organizational and societal levels. The contributors bring into focus the interface between individuals and social structures, since the growth and development of individuals invariably takes place within the context of institutions and organizations.
