Architectural style of a historical building is the expression of solemnity and majesty of a nation. It doesn't take its place due to accidents but due to social, religious, moral and different conditions it spreads. Each style is actually based upon some principles. It could be affected by its surrounding civilizations. Indian temples have been a source of attraction, not only as a place of worship for the devout, but also as an architectural marvel for the curious tourist. Many of Europe's medieval cathedrals are museums in their own right, housing fantastic examples of craftsmanship and works of art. Additionally, the buildings themselves are impressive. Early Christian Architecture: basilical church developed from Roman secular basilica; centralized type from Roman tombs. Basilical plan modified for liturgical requirements; congregation and clergy segregated in nave and aisles vs. transept and apse. Byzantine architecture has a lot in common with early Christian architecture. The reason is that Byzantine architecture diverges from early Christian architecture during the reign of the Emperor Justinian, around the middle of the sixth century. The aim of this work has been to sketch the various periods and styles of architecture with the broadest possible strokes, and to mention with such brief characterization as seemed permissible or necessary the most the leading facts of architectural history.
